Does Medicaid Cover Abortion in New York?

Yes. New York is one of the states where Medicaid covers abortion services. If you have Medicaid from any of the five NYC boroughs — the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, or Staten Island — your abortion may be fully covered at our clinic, including the procedure, ultrasound, lab work, anesthesia, and follow-up care.

We accept Medicaid plans including Healthfirst, Metroplus, Affinity, Fidelis, Amerigroup, Emblem Health, HIP, Molina, United Healthcare Community Plan, Wellcare, and more.

Does Private Insurance Cover Abortion?

Most private insurance plans in New York cover abortion services. We accept Aetna, Cigna, Oxford, BCBS, 1199, Emblem Health (GHI and HIP), and many others.

Is There a Limit on How Many Abortions Insurance Will Cover Per Year?

Based on our experience, plans including Healthfirst, Metroplus, and certain other Medicaid managed care plans may only cover up to two termination procedures per calendar year. This applies to both Medicaid and commercial plans.

How Much Does an Abortion Cost Without Insurance?

If you don't have insurance or prefer to self-pay, here's what abortion care costs at Dr. Emily Women's Health Center. All surgical abortion fees include general anesthesia and lab work — there are no hidden charges.

Abortion Pill (Medical Abortion) — Up to 9 Weeks $600

This includes two office visits, two ultrasounds, all medications (mifepristone and misoprostol), detailed instructions, 24/7 staff support, and post-procedure care.

Surgical Abortion — First Trimester

• Less than 12 weeks: $600
• 12.1 – 13.6 weeks: $750

Surgical Abortion — Second Trimester

• 14.0 – 14.6 weeks: $850
• 15.0 – 15.6 weeks: $950
• 16.0 – 16.6 weeks: $1,300
• 17.0 – 17.6 weeks: $1,500
• 18.0 – 18.6 weeks: $2,000
• 19.0 – 19.6 weeks: $2,600
• 20.0 – 20.6 weeks: $3,200
• 21.0 – 21.6 weeks: $3,700

Procedures after 18 weeks require a two-day process with cervical preparation on the first day.

What Payment Methods Do You Accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash, and cashier's checks (cardholder must show ID). Payment is due in full on the day of your appointment. A 3% processing fee applies to debit and credit card payments — cash and cashier's checks have no additional fee.

Can I Get an Abortion in the Bronx on a Saturday?

Yes. We are open on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We know that many patients work during the week and can't take time off, and Saturday availability makes it possible to receive care without missing work. Surgical abortion procedures are performed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
