Whether you're coming from Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, or Staten Island, getting here is easier than you might think.

Manhattan is the easiest borough to travel from, with a direct subway connection on the 6 train the entire way.
By Subway (Recommended) — approx. 20–30 minutes from Midtown
- Take the 6 train (local, Pelham Bay Park-bound) from anywhere on the East Side
- Exit at East 149th Street station
- Walk 1 block south on Southern Blvd — we are at 642 Southern Blvd

- Union Square / 14th St — approx. 30 min
- Spring St / SoHo — approx. 35 min
- Brooklyn Bridge / City Hall — approx. 35 min
By Car — approx. 20–30 minutes (without traffic)
- Take the FDR Drive north to the Bruckner Expressway (I-278 E / I-95)
- Exit at Southern Blvd / E 149th St
- Street parking is available on Southern Blvd and surrounding streets
From Brooklyn
Brooklyn patients travel to us regularly — many find it easier than expected once they know the route.
By Subway — approx. 45–60 minutes
- Take the 2, 3, 4, or 5 train northbound toward Manhattan
- Transfer to the 6 train at Grand Central (42nd St) or at 14th St – Union Square
- Ride the 6 train north and exit at East 149th Street
- Walk 1 block to 642 Southern Blvd

- Downtown Brooklyn / Atlantic Ave — approx. 50 min
- Flatbush / Crown Heights — approx. 55 min
- Bay Ridge — approx. 65 min via the R to 59th St, then transfer to 4/5 to the 6
By Car — approx. 30–45 minutes (without traffic)
- Take the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278) to the Bruckner Expressway (I-278 E)
- Exit at Southern Blvd / E 149th St in the Bronx
From Queens
Queens patients typically route through Manhattan to catch the 6 train north, or take a crosstown bus to connect.
By Subway — approx. 50–70 minutes
- From Jackson Heights / Roosevelt Ave: Take the 7 train to Times Sq, transfer to the 6 northbound to East 149th St
- From Jamaica / Southeast Queens: Take the E or F train to Lexington Ave/53rd St, transfer to the 6 northbound to East 149th St
- From Flushing: Take the 7 to Grand Central, transfer to the 6 northbound to East 149th St
- From Astoria: Take the N or W to Times Sq or the Q44-SBS bus, which runs through the Bronx (check MTA for current routing)
By Car — approx. 30–45 minutes (without traffic)
- Take the Whitestone Bridge or Throggs Neck Bridge into the Bronx
- Head south on the Bruckner Expressway and exit at Southern Blvd / E 149th St
From Staten Island
Staten Island is the farthest borough, but many patients make the trip — especially because we accept Staten Island Medicaid and provide surgical abortion services up to 21 weeks that may not be available closer to home.
By Public Transit — approx. 75–90 minutes
- Take the Staten Island Ferry to Whitehall St / South Ferry in Manhattan
- Walk to Bowling Green station and take the 4 or 5 train northbound
- Transfer to the 6 train at Grand Central (42nd St)
- Exit at East 149th Street — 1 block walk to our clinic

The Staten Island Ferry is free. The total transit cost is a single $2.90 MetroCard swipe from Whitehall St.
By Car — approx. 45–60 minutes (without traffic)
- Take the Staten Island Expressway (I-278) east to the Goethals or Verrazzano Bridge into Brooklyn
- Connect to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway north to the Bruckner Expressway
- Exit at Southern Blvd / E 149th St

No matter which borough you live in, your New York City Medicaid is welcome at Dr. Emily Women's Health Center. We accept Medicaid from the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. We do not accept Westchester County Medicaid.
