About Our Practice
Do you accept Medicaid?
Yes! We accept Medicaid from all five NYC boroughs: the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. Please note we do not accept Westchester County Medicaid. We also accept most private insurance plans. Call 718-585-1010 to verify your coverage.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
Yes, same-day appointments are often available. Call us at 718-585-1010 and we'll do our best to see you the same day you call. Walk-ins are also welcome for free pregnancy testing.
Q: Do you accept walk-in GYN patients?
A: Yes — Dr. Emily Women's Health Center offers same-day GYN appointments in the Bronx. While we recommend calling ahead at 718-585-1010 to confirm availability, we accommodate urgent walk-in visits whenever possible. Unlike walk-in GYN chains, our patients are always seen by a board-certified OB/GYN physician with over 30 years of experience.
Q: How quickly can I be seen for a GYN appointment?
A: We offer same-day appointments for many services, including STD testing, pregnancy testing, birth control consultations, and urgent gynecological evaluations. Call 718-585-1010 or request an appointment online.
Q: What's the difference between Dr. Emily Women's Health Center and a walk-in GYN clinic?
A: Walk-in GYN clinics typically offer basic gynecological services. Dr. Emily Women's Health Center provides the same convenient access — with same-day and walk-in GYN availability — PLUS full surgical capabilities including abortion services up to 21 weeks with general anesthesia, all in an AAAASF-accredited surgical facility. You'll also see the same experienced physicians every visit, not a rotating roster of providers.

About Abortion Services
The abortion pill costs $600 for self-pay patients. Most insurance plans and Medicaid cover the cost of abortion services. We recommend calling us at 718-585-1010 to verify your insurance coverage and discuss pricing for your specific situation.
How far along can I be to get an abortion at your clinic?
We provide the abortion pill (medical abortion) up to 9 weeks of pregnancy and surgical abortion with anesthesia up to 21 weeks of pregnancy.
Is the abortion pill safe?
Yes, the abortion pill is very safe and effective. It has been FDA-approved since 2000 and is 97% effective when used correctly. Our board-certified physicians will evaluate you to determine if you're a good candidate for the abortion pill.
What's the difference between the abortion pill and surgical abortion?
The abortion pill (medical abortion) uses two medications to end a pregnancy up to 9 weeks. You take the medications and complete the process at home. Surgical abortion is a procedure performed in our office with anesthesia, available up to 21 weeks. Your doctor will help you decide which option is best for you.
Do you provide anesthesia for surgical abortion?
Yes, we provide general anesthesia as standard for all surgical abortion procedures. Your comfort and safety are our top priorities.
Will I need someone to bring me home after a surgical abortion?
Yes, you must bring an escort who is 21 years or older to assist you in returning home safely after your surgical procedure. This is required because you will receive anesthesia.
Is your facility safe and accredited?
Yes, our surgical center is AAAASF-accredited, which means we meet the highest standards of safety, privacy, and confidentiality. AAAASF accreditation is the gold standard for ambulatory surgical facilities.
About Birth Control
We offer comprehensive birth control options including IUDs (hormonal and copper), Nexplanon birth control implants, birth control pills, patches, and injections. We'll help you choose the method that's right for you.
How effective is an IUD?
Most women experience cramping during insertion, similar to menstrual cramps. The procedure only takes a few minutes. Our experienced physicians will make you as comfortable as possible.
Can I get birth control after my abortion?
We'll discuss birth control options with you during your abortion appointment. At your required follow-up visit after the abortion, we can insert an IUD or Nexplanon implant, or provide you with pills, patches, or other contraception methods. It's important to start birth control right away, as you can become pregnant again very soon after an abortion.
